OUR WORKSHOPS
From Photo to Fabulous
Live Workshop. Saturday, Sep 25, 9am PT
Doors close Fri, Sep 24, 5pm PT
Description
Working from photos can result in lifeless, unoriginal drawings. But what if you could turn your reference photos into something fresh — and fabulous?
Illustrator Chris Koehler has used ordinary photos to create amazing movie posters, comics books, and magazine illustrations — and in this workshop, he’ll share all of his tips and techniques.
You’ll learn a system for creating fantastic illustrations with a level of realism only possible with reference.
You’ll composite a collection of photos into a single original image and Chris will help you turn that image into a sketch.
Then you’ll learn to use brush pens and mixed media to create a fantastic full-color, finished illustration, ready to frame.
Get ready to blow yourself away with the fabulous end result!
NOTE: This workshop is designed for any skill and experience level. All artists can benefit from learning how to use reference. Chris will also dispel the taboo of using photo reference, and help clarify the ethics and methodology involved.
