It’s been an exciting week here at Sketchbook Skool, and in the beautiful world of sketchbook art. Here are just a few things our fakulty and students have been up to.
Lynne Chapman and Koosje Koene did Facebook live fakulty chats that rocked! Lynne took students around her amazing studio in Sheffield, England, and gave tours of her amazing concertina sketchbooks and a sneak preview of what she’ll be teaching in her klass in our new kourse, Exploring. Sketchbook Skool co-founder Koosje Koene also gave a behind-the-scenes look at working with Lynne and another urban sketching and watercoloring superstar, Nina Johansson, who’s also teaching in Exploring. Speaking of urban sketching (or sketching on location), students loved this series of gorgeous sketches of little convenience stores in South Korea that artist Me Kyeoung Lee has been sketching over the past 20 years. Another ambitious artist, John Donohue, has set up a great challenge: He’s sketching all the restaurants in New York. Compared to that, our A Drawing A Day challenge, which started on January 1 and continues through the rest of this year, seems pretty simple! Remember, you can join that challenge any time. For daily prompts, visit our Facebook page or check here on the blog on the last day of each month. Post your drawing with the hashtag #sbsadrawingaday.
Sketchbook Skool teacher Vin Ganapathy made the sketch of his art space for us (above). Have you seen Vin’s work on the Sktchy app? If you’re new at Skool, you may not know about Sktchy, an amazing app filled with photos you can draw. Find Vin and our other fakulty members, and share what you draw with the hashtag #sketchbookskool.
