Do you ever wonder how to decide what to draw in your daily art journal? How to make it count? How to make it interesting? For a recent weekly email assignment, fakulty member Liz Steel challenged us to capture a week’s worth of everyday moments.

Draw an everyday object to summarise your day - what did you use the most that day? Did you buy anything? Were you given something? What happened and can it be described by an object? (eg. if you spend all day in front of a computer draw that!) If you do this for a few days, then you will start to create a unique narrative of your week. It is amazing how much of the full spectrum of life can be brought back to our memories by the little trivial objects of life and if you sketch it, somehow these will be encoded into your lines and colour. -Liz Steel
