Fakulty Update: Check Out Miguel Herranz’s Portfolio

By

We love seeing what Sketchbook Skool fakulty members are up to when they’re not teaching klasses. You get to see some of their work in our kourses through their Sketchbook Tours, but there’s so much more to their creativity. Most of our teachers are professionals working in all kinds of different areas—storyboarding for film and advertising, illustrating books, doing on-site illustrations at car shows, editorial work at magazines… The list of what these pros can do goes on and on.

That’s why we thought you’d like to see the rich and varied work of Sketchbook Skool fakulty member Miguel Herranz. Miguel taught most recently in our Urban Sketching kourse, so students got to know him as the man who taught the famous Spiral Technique, a way of drawing complex scenes that was a revelation to everyone who learned it!

Recently, Miguel shared his online portfolio on his new website, miguel-herranz.com. You’ll be amazed by the wide variety of work Miguel has done in different styles, and some images will be familiar to you from Urban Sketching. Have fun looking through this online art gallery of one of our teachers. Maybe it will start you thinking about creating an online gallery of your own!

How to Start

I could start with a humorous anecdote, maybe something self-deprecating —I’ve been doing a fair amount of that sort of self-flagellation lately. Maybe about the time I fell asleep in the library in college and was so embarrassed when I was awoken by another student that….
