In this week’s Study Hall, Sketchbook Skool co-founder Koosje Koene takes an Urban Sketching trip outside to draw a building.

Here’s how to draw buildings:

 

In our Seeing kourse, Urban Sketcher Liz Steel teaches how to see patterns — she sketches ornate antique teacups to illustrate the point (literally!). Then, she goes outside and uses her background in architecture to show the patterns that occur in buildings and street scenes.

This, along with the great first step of making thumbnail sketches, really helps build your drawings. Check out how it went for Koosje in this video (click the image above to play). And show us your Urban Sketches! Post them online with the hashtag #sbsadrawingaday.
