Draw Tip Tuesday: How to Shade with Colored Pencils

By

This week’s Draw Tip Tuesday is going to open a world of color for you, as Sketchbook Skool co-founder Koosje Koene gives you a tutorial in using color pencils.

Color can be so tricky in drawing; you see a color in real life or in your imagination, and you just can’t match it on the page. This is how people end up spending beaucoup bucks on those giant sets of color pencils, markers, and paints. It seems like expanding the amount of colors you have will help you get the colors you want.

But as Koosje will show you in this Draw Tip Tuesday, you can get an amazing range of colors by knowing their complementary, or opposite, shades. You can create almost any color you want just by learning how to mix the colors!

Koosje also shows you how to create depth by shading and leaving highlights, creating drop shadows… All this in one short video! It’s pretty amazing stuff that will enhance your drawings and make that small set of color pencils your new best friends.
