We’re constantly inspired by the creativity of students at Sketchbook Skool and it’s not always just their drawings. Quite often we see posts shared in our different social groups of fun DIY art supply hacks and some are just too good not to share.

We’ll be the first to say that buying new art supplies is fun and exciting. However, not having a good place on hand to store said supplies can be anything but. Check out these neat homemade art storage items from SBS students!

With some help from her crafty husband, Stephanie made this awesome hanging rack for paint tubes pictured above.

Terri put together a little pocket palette using a metal cosmetic or business card case, some metal watercolor pans, and a strip of magnetic backing to attach them to the case pictured below.

Ileta used Lego to make little brush stands to dry out her watercolor brushes after rinsing them, also pictured below.

As all of these students have learned, if you don’t like what you have, make something better. It’s easy, and not to mention fun, to buy all sorts of fancy supplies at a big art store, but it can be a lot more fun to create your own tools and work with what you have.
